10 tips on how to write your perfect promo video scripts

1.     Try and start each script with a catchy question or something to grab their attention. Ex: Have you ever wondered how to buy a home with no money down?

2.    Make sure to read each draft out loud and time yourself to be around 60-120 seconds timing.

3.     Review our Keywords Document to get an idea of what your clients search for. Then title each video and question around one of those keyword searches.

4.     Be informative, educational, and keep it simple. Don't overcomplicate, over-explain and spend too much time on any one thing. Explain the answer as simply as you possibly can.

5.     Stay away from words and phrases like "I think" "maybe" or "sometimes" these show a lack of confidence.

6.     Work in your name, business, title and brief experience, expertise or something catchy after you grab their attention with the question. Try to avoid that at the very beginning.

7.     Don't over-study or overwrite each script. It is important to stay genuine and not make people think you are reading from a script. It makes you seem way more like the expert when you just say it rather than read it.

8.     Always have a 2nd pair of eyes or more read out loud the script as well. Feedback is very crucial to keep it short and to the point. It’s more effective to spend a bit more time during the writing phase than it is during the recording of the video phase.

9.     Most importantly do not plagiarize your script and be careful when quoting others.

10.   Finally, when finishing your script, you need to think about branding. All your videos should have different content covered but should feel familiar. Your call to action is your last opportunity to have your client reach you so make it connect with them and be consistent with your words.
